Page has always followed the path her parents set out for her. Now when she’s finally working at her father’s law practice she’s anxious to be let loose to show she can handle herself. However, when she learns she’s being thrown into the fire with a criminal case defending a rapist, she tries to figure a way to get out of it. Meeting Jax, she’s attracted to him but reminds herself he’s a violent criminal.Jax has issues with anger. In order to help control his urges he took up cage fighting and soon rose to the top of his field where he reins. The position provides plenty of one night stands and he doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of them but he’s never forced a woman to do anything she didn’t want to do. If his new lawyer can’t get him off, he’s going to jail for a long time.
While Jax can be crude and rude, I ultimately loved him. Once he met Page he never strayed despite the fact that she was engaged to someone else. His body urges him to give in but he wants to protect Page from the possibility of losing her license if they have an affair. But Page doesn’t play fair and she is set on being with him.
I loved Jax and his family and the fact that they instantly accepted Page into their fold. Sometimes the flirting between her and Jude felt like they were almost, if not, crossing a line. The fact that she fantasized about Jax while having sex with her fiancée was unappealing to me and I would’ve rather not read that at all, but I’m particular about my H/h not being with anyone once they meet. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book and I’m glad I finally had the chance to read it.

Jax A Cocky Cage Fighter Novel Book 1 edition by Lane Hart Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Page is a relatively new attorney who is thrown into the case of Jackson Maloney, a fiery MMA fighter accused of raping and choking a female fan. Page is used to her family and fiancee making her decisions for her, as much as she hates this, and Jax brings out her rebellious side. Thinking Jax is probably guilty and being stuck with defending him, their somewhat heated relationship is volatile. Page wants to prove to her firm she can handle the case and Jax naturally wants to stay out of prison.
Jax is a big, alpha ball of anger who releases his temper when cage fighting and thinks Page is a stuck up ice princess. She tries to remain professional when he is constantly a crass, womanising jerk at times, but as their relationship grows, they get to see each other for who they really are.
I really liked this book. The main characters bounced off each other well and although the storyline followed a familiar romantic plot, the author did a great job keeping the story interesting and maintaining my interest throughout it. Jax's family were a great addition, although Page's frustrated me at times. The legal side of things was believable enough for a romance. Although Jax was a bit of an arrogant tool at times, I actually really liked his character.
Be warned that this book does touch on the topic of rape, as per its description. I gave the book 4 stars because there were a couple of things that irked me. Firstly, I didn't mind the bit of swearing in the book. However, I did have a bit of an issue with the poor choice of language that negatively referenced women throughout the story. I get it, it's fiction, but personally I didn't enjoy the male lead, who slept around constantly in his past, referring to women using demeaning language. It bordered on being misogynistic and was almost a turn off, especially as this is part of the reason women don't come forward and report sexual crimes to begin with. Secondly, Page has a fiancee. Messing around with someone else is a crappy thing to do, even if she isn't that into him. Lastly, I found after a great build up the court case and subsequent ending was wrapped up a bit too quickly. Their was all this growth in their relationship and the case and then, boom, it was just resolved. I would have liked a bit more detail, especially since the book had really held my attention this far.
Overall, it was a good read and I'll purchase more from this author in the future.
I was so lucky to find this book free on here because I LOVED it
Jax is the Heavyweight MMA champ, He gets any woman he wants at anytime, he does not do relationships, and prefers the cage "bunnies"
because they know that is how it works, but for one, who stalks him and then charges him with rape and assault.
Paige has just recently passed the bar and is working in her fathers law firm, her brother and other family members also all work there. when her father makes her take on Jackson's (Jax) case she feels she is not qualified to do it, Her father feels that she is perfect for this case because she is a woman and will help show that women should not fear Jax.
The chemistry between them is so intense, Jax does deal with anger issues (the reason his dad started him training to fight at such a young age)
and you find out why (had to do with his mom) Jude is his wonderful happy younger brother (who also trains daily and fights)
This book is intense, hot, steamy and just wonderful. I LOVED it and cannot wait to read Jude's story as well.
